Just received an email stating that Pro monitoring isn't available in North Carolina "just yet" do to some regulations, but they are "working hard to change that". Also says there will be a special rate of $14.95... That actually sounds like a good value.

This almost makes it sound like it IS available somewhere now... Has anyone here received an email saying it is now available in their area?

I haven't received any emails about pro monitoring

Did everyone fill out the "Register now to get updates" form on their site,  or did these emails come automatically?

Yes, the email read:

We are reaching out to you personally because you have shown interest in our Professional Monitoring service through our website and we have determined that it is available in your area.

Even though when I tried to sign up for it the site told me I couldn't get it in my area, although I'm in a suburb of a major city.

I am using it in KY.

What part of KY, I am just outside Lexington and "There are no registered agencies who will dispatch emergency responders to this address through the Professional Monitoring system."

I am Winchester,

Great town. Two generations back, my family hailed from the Vada/Primrose area, on the banks of the North Fork Ky River.

Another user received the same message even though he lives in a metro area where there are many first responders.  Apparently, it is a possible glitch which Iris is investigating.

Hey Dreu! I'm in Winchester too! Small world!

I was surprised to find how close thegillion is, but 2 of us in Winchester is small.  I am actually from West KY, but been here around 13 years.  Have you tried to get the live monitoring?

Well, I know it works where I am. Accidentally set off the Panic alarm and about 10 minutes later a police officer was at my front door. I had some explaining to do.....

I got the pro monitoring yesterday. Seems like a good deal.

It was offered in at least my area of South Carolina one week ago.

My part of S.C. too.

I was talking with tech support. Said she's in Wisconsin and said a good portion of their customers are in The South.

Damn, they don't call or give you any other way to validate before calling dispatch?  My old SafeTouch alarm had the two way speaker where they would come over the intercom and ask for your password when the alarm was triggered.  If you didn't respond or gave a false pw they'd call dispatch.  I routinely set mine off accidentally and I won't get monitoring if there's no way to call off the dogs when you do.

Actually I hadn't really considered it anyway, given my experience with SafeTouch.  One time we woke up to a yard full of emergency vehicles who said our alarm went off but it never did.  I've also read accounts where people say some police will privately tell you monitoring isn't worth it as long as the system notifies you, because you're likely to know if it's a real alert and call faster than a monitoring service will.  Of course they could just be sick of false alerts tying up personnel.

Probably because of the nature of the emergency - panic vs. alarm tripped:

Emergency Dispatch – Smoke & Security

In the event of a true emergency, confirming the alarm in the app will expedite emergency dispatch. If the alarm is not confirmed through the app, the monitoring station will call the account owner and also the 2nd person in the notification list. If those 2 people are unable to confirm or cancel, the Monitoring Station will attempt to dispatch the authorities. Once verbally confirmed, emergency personnel will be asked to dispatch. In the event that no one can be reached by phone, an emergency responder dispatch will be attempted.

Emergency Dispatch - Panic

A Panic alarm in your home will result in emergency personnel automatically being alerted. Once authorities are notified, the Monitoring Station will then call your Notification List until someone is reached to inform them that the authorities have been notified.
