    Contact Sensors Dropping and others

Anyone else have a lot of their contact sensors V2 drop offline this morning and other zigbee devices? I rebooted my hub and some came back online and now others are dropping off. A V1 keyfob was also a casualty but has came back online after the hub reboot. I am just going to give it time to level out but didn't know if I was the only one.

What Platform Should I Migrate To

You can do this natively within SmartThings. If you go into the Smart Lighting SmartApp, you will see turn off, then you can set a time delay for it to turn back off.

Best Contact Sensor for Outdoor use

My friend has had contact sensors on a gate and he used clear silicone spray to make it water proof. He said he just peals it off to change the battery and re-applies it. I personally thought about putting them in those vacuum seal bags and making it snug, but I haven’t done it myself yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anybody got their pre-paid Visa card from Lowe's?

My two came today also, didn’t have a tracking number or email. Glad they came today after I was off work [emoji2357] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My .02 and a new Newbie Questions

Functionality is a lot better. The new app seems way slow and you can’t do everything you can with the classic app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My .02 and a new Newbie Questions

Utilitech water sensor works fine on ST’s. Mine paired right up without using any custom device handler. Maybe try with the classic app? The hose controllers are a lost cause, I posted why in a previous post.

I'm thinking I'll switch to SmartThings

It’s horrible. I maybe got it working twice but it falls back off and you have to disable secure zigbee join so I gave up after a week. I am going to go with some rainbird solenoids and run a transformer to them or something like that. My faucet is on the other side of my deck and the deck is long so it’s a pain to turn the water off/on. The hose controller I will definitely miss, going to have to find another solution before spring, for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Gear Thanks to Iris

The cloud key pro 2 is so much better than the free software. I noticed several features added with the cloud controller vs the free software. One is you can use the protect app with lots of features vs just the Unifi video app, even my access points interface was much better than with the software. $199 for the NVR/controller isn’t that bad, included a 1TB HDD for 24/7 recording and it’s really small. New Gear Thanks to Iris

I researched the hell out of these (Arlo) for my dad's replacement and after watching a few youtube videos, I took them off the list completely. I am going with Unifi cameras by Ubiquiti for my house and I think I am going to pull the switch and do the same for my dad's house. They are hard wired PoE but to me it worth the headache of running an ethernet cable(s). I was going to go with Nest but am not sure on that one either. https://blog.ui.com/2019/01/09/introducing-unifi-protect/

What Platform Should I Migrate To

Yes, this is the classic app. I only used the new app for installing the V3 hub and haven't used it since, it is way too watered down.

I put a custom one on my GE fan switch also, didn’t like the stock one that was more like a dimmer.

What Platform Should I Migrate To

Yeah definitely nice with the remote also. If you can’t find the custom DC I can send you the github, you have to install all three. The fan controller and two child ones, light and fan speed. You just pair the controller and the script does the rest.

What Platform Should I Migrate To

Yeah I had to put in a custom device handler for the glass break also. I just looked up utilitech glass break on the Smartthings forum and that was fixed instantly. Think it showed up as a zwave sensor and now it shows glass break. I agree, the IDE is awesome. I installed a Hampton bay zigbee fan controller yesterday up at the ceiling fan and now I have separate fan speed and light controls that are controlled through SmartThings with a custom controller. It’s made for wink but works with ST. Picked it up at Home Depot’s website. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I asked the tech here and he said 48 is the lowest acceptable signal. If it drops lower than 48 you will more than likely see pixelation. It should be at least 10-12 higher on the scale, according to him.

Green check marks is just showing it can see the satellites at the time of the check switch. Hit the home button three times, go to Dish (3) on the left and it shows the signal strength in the bottom left. If you are on eastern arc (sats 65,72, or 77(depends on dish) then you can check 72 transponder 17 and check that strength. I beta test for work, so I know some about the set top boxes.

Arlo Pro 2 Cameras vs Iris Cameras

I could be wrong but from what it looks like is they charge with induction since there isn’t a port that it plugs into. I’m sure it says indoor because the plug side isn’t outdoor rated. I could be completely wrong but I gathered that from the pictures on their site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would love to if I knew, lol. I actually work in a service center and keep the server rooms and networking equipment operational. I will ask one of the guys in our QA department tomorrow and see if he has any ideas. Try this, when it does it, skip back with the remote and see if it still does it in the same spot on the delayed feed.
