jeff909 got a reaction from rdisom in Emotional farewell to what we've lost
Don't know if anyone else feels this way but it's a little interesting how many people over the years came to this forum to bash IRIS and complain and say they're switching to another company.
Now that IRIS is shutting down and it seems the consciences is that there isn't a company to switch to for a complete equal / on-par all-in-one system.
I personally have always been on board since 2014 that this was the best system out there and regardless of the new costs / gift cards issued,  I'm personally going to be very sad because at least at first it appears I'm going to be losing a product I've grown to rely on.
    Will miss you IRIS....

I'd be curious to know if the refreshed smart button is more durable than the original V2 one.
The low profile is nice vs V1,  but they seem to break.

jeff909 got a reaction from usmcss in Are we going to be able to change colors with Echo?
This is really cool,  surprised more haven’t posted on this.  It works great, so much easier than having to move the slider to the precise spot to get a particular color.
Heres my guess at what happened.
Feature was included in the firmware update last month
Could be listed in release notes for the app update, but I think someone posted that Apple rejected the app so it would be delayed.
Since the Echo communicates to the hub directly without the app,  this works due to the firmware update and hasn’t been communicated due to the app delay.
    Just my guess...

jeff909 got a reaction from Smitho in How does professional monitoring work
For those that are doing the pro option,    how many motion sensors do you have the requirement set to?
Not using the monitored service,   I have mine set to 1.
I get an occasional false alarm,  but it's not a big deal.   I don't think I'd be comfortable having it call the cops every month or two if I don't respond quickly to their phone call.
In one sense,   professional monitoring would make me feel more secure,   but if by doing so I change my motion sensor requirement,   that feels like a step backwards.

I picked up a RGB bulb for $27 last night at Lowes.  Can't believe the sale.

Put it on the front porch and set to green for the holidays and thought the same thing,  would be cool to switch between red and green like every couple hours.... or at min like you said have "favorites"  so if I do it manually I can quickly find the Christmas-y green instead of the bright green.

FYI the sale has pretty much all the bulbs 40% off.  Said it was running until 12/3 but I checked and they're still on sale.

jeff909 reacted to Smitho in I will be adding a bunch of new devices to my system soon.
I just scored a large lot of iris items on ebay.
It has several devices I just needed "more of", such as light switches, smart plugs, contact sensors, motion detectors, additional keypad, etc...
It does also have several devices that are "new to me". The following devices will be added to my system for the first time:

    Indoor Camera (old version)
    Dead Bolt
    Orbit Hose Timer
    Siren
    Smart Button
    Utilitech Leak Detector.

Can anyone share current limitations of these devices on V2, so I'll know what to expect?
Here is what I would like to do with these devices, please let me know if this can be done:

Camera: Obviously I should be able to view it remotely from the app (I don't really need to view from 3rd party apps right now). I would also assume it can record when an alarm is triggered.
Dead Bolt: Lock when a scene is run. Lock and unlock with buttons on V1 keyfob. Assign codes to multiple individuals. "buzz" someone in remotely. Unlock for fire.
Hose Timer: Turn on and off remotely (override schedule). When the forecast calls for rain, override schedule and stay off. (I believe I read that V1 did this but V2 doesn't).
Siren: Obviously it should sound when alarm is triggered. It should also sound in the event of a fire, or the panic button is pressed on V1 keypad.
    Smart Button: Run a scene
Leak Detector: umm... Just alert me when there is a leak (hopefully this doesn't sound the siren also)

Do you think this will mostly do what I want?

I had the exact same issue,  it would disconnect every 15 minutes.
After numerous resets, tier 2 deemed my camera defective.

FYI, I believe the camera connects via wifi to your router,  not zigbee or Z-wave,  so I would imagine proximity to the hub or a smart plug would not apply.

Thanks for the re-post of that thread.  Didn't mean to create a duplicate discussion.  From reading that it appears the new one is not better.   support told me it was designed for V2, so had hoped it would work better for connections, etc. but if the quality has any issues,  that doesn't sound great.  Would love to hear if anyone has any positive feedback from it though

I've had V1 for over 3 years and it's worked flawlessly.

    Upgraded today via Migration tool.

    Migration Process
Transferred name of all my devices over
All showed up except GE Link Light Bulb and Camera
Link bulb paired manually no issue
Camera had to be manually reset and paired via wired to router
V1 will no longer let me log in as expected

    Positive Impressions
    App loads quick
    Devices responder quicker
App seems more upscale,  nice interface
Cool to add a photo of your home to the dashboard
Simple to add rules/scenes,  it's pretty straight forward
Could be crazy but my Siren seems louder
Cool that the care features are now free
    App is very customizable
Chime via opening doors is identical to V1
Response time for phone call when alarm triggered was instant

    Bugs
Camera has been disconnecting several times
When viewing camera card,  if I hit the PLAY button, it seems to save a recording despite me hitting PLAY  not the red RECORD

    Questions

Q1)  What Camera Resolution / Frame Rate is recommended?
I ran on 640 with 30 FPS on V1,  as it was more smooth and I preferred the smoothness via higher res with a slight chop
I tried 1280 with 30 FPS and the motion is smooth but the camera seems pixelated

Q2)  Anyone else think the Siren is louder?   (could be I hadn't tested it being indoors recently)

    Overall Assessment
It's definitely a step forward.  Would prefer V2 to V1 in a heart beat
    Migration tool process is preferred
I was also afraid I'd miss the website,  but in all honesty, I used it to setup / view rules and once setup I never used it lately.
Sure the screen is smaller, but the way rules are configured in V2 are more logical than V1,   overall it's a huge step forward and I didn't miss the web interface at all
I'm not doubting if you migrated early there were bugs, but as of today it seems to be working equivalent to V1 and I'm very happy.
I'd definitely recommend the system to others

Does anyone think it could be due to network connection issues?

I know they randomly click due to light conditions, but last night I put a piece of tape over the IR sensor to force it to think it's always dark,  and this morning it clicked multiple times within a minute.  Just slightly annoying...  any ideas?

Sure the time changes twice a year ,
But would the world really end if you set your outdoor lights to just turn on at 7 PM and turn off at 8 AM and and if it's off my 20 or 30 minutes while we are waiting for the feature to be added, is that really so bad?

Good. Definitely need the phone call as it would wake you up in the middle of the night and a push notification would not
Little concerned by dropping text message, I have a unique
Text tone for the Iris phone number in my contacts, to distinguish an Iris alert from a standard text message while I'm at work, so I would assume this would not be possible with the new system. It's also handy to have the history of all notifications in the message bubble where Id assume after you clear your daily notifications from that screen the history is lost. Sorry if I'm late to the complaint department , but am I correct in how the feature now works?

Mine has always said low signal but all other devices show full strength
While back I pulled it trying to fix the signal issue and the garage tilt sensor dropped off shortly after. (Range extender is near the garage)
I concluded despite low signal the RE was providing a benefit and gave up and worrying about how many bars of signal it has
