I believe I read in another thread that they did this due to some devices having an issue with switching orientation. To bad they didn't fix what was broken instead of just taking it away.

Why not make it selectable?

I agree. I stopped using Iris on my wall mounted iPad and am now using it to monitor my cameras through Blue Iris so it's not a total loss. I picked up an 7" android tablet to replace the functionality I had with the iPad. I have to say I like the Iris android app running on a 7" screen much better than the iOS version running on an iPad in the landscape mode.

Kind of the same here.  I have 2 other automation apps that only run in portrait mode, so I wall mounted a 7" cheap android tablet.  I only switched from an iPad to the tablet because the iPad wouldn't run the Avi-on app at all.
