No-Neutral switch on bathroom fan?

1 post in this topic

I'm wondering if this would work or if it would burn up the fan?
If I had an old spare wall switch that doesn't require a neutral, is it likely it would work ok with a bathroom exhaust fan?
I understand that these switches use the return path through the load in place of the neutral in order to power the switch while in the off position, so the switch is never actually "completely off". This allows a small trickle of electricity through the load so the switch doesn't go offline.
Would this likely cause problems with the motor in a bath fan?
