Marvin Ellison

So Marvin Ellison started a little over a week ago and I have been seeing lots of stories about his restructuring of Lowes. A bunch of people are already out or know they are out in a few months. I really hope he invests in the Iris platform and doesn't kill this off too. Has anyone seen any stories mentioning his plans for Iris or even what his thoughts are around other Lowes brands? Anyone have any thoughts?

If he was to do a walk-through in Lowes stores  in this area and see the Iris displays, he'd probably definitely put Iris on the chopping block as the displays are pathetic. The Iris displays need to be put out of their misery before rigor mortis sets in on them. I don't understand why Lowes has let Iris go down like it has in this area yet the Nest, Google, etc displays are well stocked and clean.

Lowes is behind in sales trailing Home Depot.  Retail articles I've read lately point out that Lowe's venture in tech "store in a store" and robots hasn't helped sales...while HD focused on training their employees to be more knowledgeable about its products...this is something Lowes needs to do as well...most Lowes employees are ignorant when it comes to Iris.

Time will tell about Ellison and the future of Iris...he seems to be quick on the draw though...he definitely came in with both guns loaded with hair pin triggers. Once 4th quarter 2018  holiday sales figures come out in early 2019, that could be a deciding factor. Even though Lowes is really a home improvement store, Christmas sales will make or break a store....especially in consumer tech products

Lowes is closing stores of the Orchard Supply chain they bought. What concerns me is that they plan to "aggressively reduce inventory in Lowes stores of poor performing products".

As I've said before, all 9 stores in my immediate area have Iris displays that are "dead & dried on the vine". A couple of stores no longer even stock Iris products.

Guess we'll see come Q1 2019.

Yep more of the same.  Rather than fixing problems, just shut things down as though that would be good for the stock holders.  I rarely shop there any more because the search feature on their website is a joke. It is worse than pathetic.   It can never find anything that I am looking for when I know that they have it.  If I can't verify that the store has it, I go to Home Depot because their website search engine works and I know if it is in stock and on what isle I can find it.

+1 As much as I hate HD their site actually works. The last few months at Lowes when I start a search it gets redirected back to the home page. Sometimes it works the second time...if not I am gone.

Marvin Ellison is a dumb ass that ran J.C. Penney into the ground and is well on his way to doing the same with Lowe's.  I was privy to some inside information about the real story behind the closing of Iris and it all leads right back to him and his hand picked morons that now make up the Executive Committee.  The Iris team had a sale lined up and at the last minute the Executive Committee send word down to close it instead of selling it.  You would be shocked to know how much they spent to close it and had it not been for the Iris team we would not have been paid the more than generous amounts we received.

I still have contact with many employees in my local store that I developed a relationship over the years but outside of that Lowe's is last on my list for shopping.

I really am appreciative of the refunds they accomplished for us. But even with the generosity of that program (I got back about 4K), I would much rather have kept the system.  Thankfully, SRF is showing me what potential Iris had if Lowes had not bailed.
