I have been caught completely offguard

I bought a iris hub in January but have not been able to use it because I have been extremely busy.  Today I found out that is was shut down.  Lowe's says I can't return it because I only had to March 31.  So here is my question:

Is this hub just a paper weight or is there any way I can use it?  Can it be flashed with something else? Can it connect to something I can run?  The only thing I bought it for was a thermostat. Thanks!

Yes! Arcus is the open source version of Iris and there’s a small number of people that are using it, including with the thermostat. Unfortunately it’s not trivial to setup, and requires you to setup your own server. If you’re just now learning about iris, it’s probably not worth your time.
