Alternate Android App

I'm looking for beta testers for the Iris Android app that I wrote as a replacement for the stock app. If anyone is interested, hit up the group below and follow the link to the beta version.

The app will be free and I'll keep adding features.

There are a couple of permissions, which include location, which are currently not being used, but will be once I get the location (presence) part working (will be able to turn off via preferences). Also, the memory read/write is used for caching of device data to increase performance.

Currently, the following features are included in version 1.2:

Security (home modes and alarm modes)

Control (lights switches, dimmers, garage door controller, groups and smart plugs)

Thermostat (heat, cool, auto modes, schedule, hold, presence status)

Locks (lock, unlock, buzz in)

History

Dimmer is controlled by pressing and holding the power button.

Lock buzz in is activated by pressing and holding the lock/unlock button.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Mind posting some screenshots for those of us that do not use android?

Sure. The eventual plan is to port this to iOS as well, but I'd need to brush up on my Objective C skills or find someone to partner up on it.

I am running the beta now and like what I see so far.

Yuriypgh,

Where would you like us to post observations, comments and suggestions?

Beta group would be preferable so I can keep everything straight.

You could use any network analyzer if you'd like to see what the app does. Only communication going on is between the app and Iris servers in the same manner as the official app. I publish my e-mail address and you can see my website in the app store and decide if you can trust me or not (of course in this day and age I don't blame you for asking :) ).

Does this work for switching between multiple hubs/accounts?

You'd have to change the username/password in preferences to use a different hub/account. This actually wouldn't be a hard thing to add at some point to support multiple accounts.

Keep an eye out for version 1.3 later today with the following updates:

-Fixed a bug where control list scrolls to the top on refresh
-Notification preference: choose between notification bar, screen message, or both
-Fan control (press and hold the power button)
-Blind control (press and hold the power button) - partially working
-Added control name to the dimmer/fan screens
-Renamed alarm modes to match Iris naming convention
-Removed redundant text fields on the Security screen
-Modified landscape mode for the Security screen to fit the buttons on smaller screens

Let me know if you have any issues.

By the way, does anyone know which field stores the window blind state (down, up, favorite)? I don't have the blind to test with and the blind screen does not set the initial value currently when the screen opens.

It's the link at the bottom of the first post above.

I know about that link, I'm talking about the link within the group for the download to the play store. It's not valid, so I was looking for someone to post a vallid link, as the one there is no longer valid or working.

Did you click the button to join the beta testing? Once you click the button you will get a link to the playstore, which is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eightydegreeswest.irisplus.

But you must click join beta first (in addition to joining the group).

NVM...looks like you have to do it all from your phone and not online via a PC. Normally, I can add apps to my play acct and it will automatically download to my phone. Guess in this case it will not and will give you an invalid link, so you must click on the link from your phone.

It is unbelievable how far this app has come in just a few days.  The devices screen is sweet.  I also love the ability to turn off certain menu items like the thermostat since I am not running Iris thermostats.  Yuriy, you are unbelievable dude.  A coding beast.

Thanks very much for listening to user suggestions. The new devices page is great! I was only looking for the ambient temp reporting of relevant devices but you also added battery level and signal strength.  Nice job!
